Voting has opened for the best of Garbage Pail Kids 2023 on GPK News.

This is the first year I’m up for a category, because this is my first year as a GPK sketch artist. This means you can vote for me and the other Dèd Ted Society rookies for Rookie Artist of the Year. Competition will be fierce with 17 new artists added to the roster and 13 are my fellow Dèd Teds.

I put a lot into this first set and I know the other rookies did too. I’m not really expecting to win this, that sort of thing doesn’t happen in my world. But I hope one of the Teds ends up the winner. We all came together as a bunch of new artists with no clue if we could do this first set in a way people would appreciate. We had each other’s backs when the burnout and the self doubt crept in. I made some friends in the community and when the set dropped, I found a lot of people liked the cards I’d put out.

As much as I’d like the pride of winning… I already appreciate everything this experience has brought into my life.

I already get the reward of telling my kids if you work hard long enough, you can make a childhood dream come true. That’s pretty huge.
