Adam Emoti-Bomb Hand Painted Sketchcard

You’ve seen the first painted sketchcard post, right?

Well, I was so happy with that one, I thought, why not paint another? Then something happened.

On the GPK Facebook groups are a collection of collectors and artists, and some of the folks associated with Topps to various capacities. A list was being compiled of all the artists who had worked on Garbage Pail Kids sets in the past. In one of the groups, the Marketplace, a regular publication called the GPK Marketplace Almanac is produced a few times a year with a general price list, articles, and in the last one, a list of the Top Ten Unsigned Artists.

My name was included on that list. I was blown away, Adam Bomb style, when I’d been suggested and even more so when I saw my name with so many incredible talents. I was and am truly honoured.

Especially when that list lead to my name being added to another list. David Gross put together that list of artists that had already worked on sets, but he also put together a list of artists he would be submitting for future consideration.

My name was on that list as well. Yeah, it took a while to catch my breath.

Working on Garbage Pail Kids cards in any capacity has been a bucket list item since I was a kid in the ’80s picking up my first pack at a 7/11 across from the Toys R Us near my house. And here I was being told people thought I deserved to see that dream become reality. Pretty crazy, right?

I still have a ways to go before I find out if I made it through and I can’t say anything if I do until I get the okay. In the meantime, if you good folks could keep your fingers crossed for me, I’d appreciate it.

Now we come to my second hand painted sketchcard and your chance to decide if I deserve a spot on the Garbage Pail Kids team.
